Take a deep breath. Maybe two. A lightness emerges with Mercury's completion of a particularly challenging retrograde in the intense sign of Scorpio. No punches were pulled and the bruises, some of them literal, will heal with time. Whatever remnants of heaviness pervade in the days ahead, it's important to keep in mind we're diving deeper still into the darkest time of the year and now is the time to cultivate the alchemist within that sources light from the heart of darkness.
Mercury symbolizes our capcity to think, speak, learn and reason. This planet's transit through Scorpio, the sign that rules our need for deep involvements and intense transformations, reminds us to transmute our thoughts, positive or negative, into the fuel with which we create. The axis of the full Moon in Gemini, opposing the Sun in Sagittarius, is one of shifting our identification with our thoughts from subjective (personal) to objective (universal). Before I delve into the transformational potential of this eclipse, let me set the stage with the rest of the planetary cast.
Also transiting Scorpio is Venus, the archetype of the lover that represents our capacity to attract the people and things we love and value, as well as Saturn, the archetype of the disciplinarian that rules our capacity to create order, form and discipline in our lives. The conjunction of these planets forces us to get up close and personal with the unconscious throught patterns that attract situations and people into our lives that are incongruent with what we consciously love and value. Although it sounds paradoxical that we attract anything incongruent with what we love and value, it is this paradox that allows us to make conscious our unconscious ego patterns.
When the ego develops, roughly around the age of seven, we embark on a twenty one year journey of subjectively perceiving events in our lives as personal (perpetuating the fallacy of being separate). A complex system of false identifications, otherwise known as your personality, emerges to armor and protect you from harm, masking certain aspects of your true nature along the way. When Saturn returns to the exact place it was when you were born, around the age of twenty eight, the armoring breaks apart, piece by painstaking piece. This process of seemingly endless ego-deaths usually takes as much time to deconstruct as it did to create.
I say usually because the current astrology offers us a window of transformation of substantial proportion. While it might be easier to sedate yourself (insert vice of choice) and avoid all the murkiness and unconscious patterns that came up during Mercury's retrograde cycle (November 5-26), you would miss a window that won't open this wide for years to come. The lunar eclipse in Gemini, a sign ruled by Mercury, has the information you need to
reconcile outdated thoughts and their associative emotions. Osho reminds us, "To know what you can be, it is a necessity to first know what you are." Imagine if you will, a divine shower of illuminating proportions raining down and cleansing your mind of the false beliefs and identifications that inhibit the embodiment of your truth. This lunar eclipse is that powerful.
Gemini, the sign that reflects our need to communicate and learn from others, is likened to the Greek god Hermes; "a god of transitions and boundaries. He was quick and
cunning, and moved freely between the worlds of the mortal and divine,
as emissary and messenger of the gods, intercessor between mortals and the divine, and conductor of souls into the afterlife."(wikipedia) Gemini rules the thinking mind, the wily trickster that
floods our consciousness with endless chatter and false perceptions (when we're unconscious) and inspires our freedom of expression and creative ideas (when we're conscious). Swami Vivikinanda phrased it brilliantly... "The thinking mind is a wonderful servant, but a terrible master."
The Sun, our basic identity and conscious purpose, is transiting through Sagittarius, the sign that opposes Gemini and demonstrates our need to explore and expand the horizons of our mind and our world. At this exact locus in the space time continuum we have a confluence of planetary aspects that exposes the interminable cycle of karmic entanglements generated by an unconscious mind that establishes our limiting beliefs and gives us the awareness we need to reconcile them once and for all. By bridging the lower mind (Gemini) with the higher mind (Sagittarius), we can use this lunar eclipse to merge our dualistic awareness of separateness with the non-dual awareness of unconditional love. This is the domain of Neptune, the higher octave of Venus.
With Neptune, our capacity to transcend the finite self through experiencing unity with the greater whole, finally direct after several months retrograde in the sign it rules, Pisces, the sign symbolizing our need to commit ourselves to a dream or ideal and work towards its realization,
we find ourselves aware of the interconnectedness of all three planes of reality; Gross, Subtle and Causal, i.e. Physical, Mental and Spiritual. The unification Neptune inspires requires you to
traverse the ocean of your unconscious identifications with separateness and understand yourself not as a machine with parts and pieces, but to see that mind and body are one complete living whole, not subject to mechanical analysis or textbook diagnosis. Now is the time to realize that disease is not conquered, it is transcended. Carl Jung reminds us..."The only way out is through."
Amidst the spiraling of your inner feelings (the Moon), what they attract to you (Venus), and your capacity to transcend the false perception of separateness through experiencing unity with the greater whole (Neptune), you have the innate ability to REMEMBER your Self and awaken. This time in human evolution asks us to take responsibility for our feelings, cease the unconscious projections fueled by our memory-based emotions and realign our lifeforce energy with the passion of our truth. This is the domain of Mars, the planetary archetype of the warrior that dominates our capacity to act and assert ourselves based on personal desire.
With Mars exactly conjunct with Pluto, the archetype of regeneration that rules our capacity for self-transformation and self-renewal, in wise Capricorn, the sign that demonstrates our need for structure, organization and social accomplishment, we have an extraordinary amount of energy and wisdom available to transform the unconscious patterns, take dominion over how we assert ourselves in the world and consciously architect our lives moving forward. Are you the master of your reality, manifesting your desires in alignment with divine will? Imagine a world free from the destructive tendencies of our outdated ego-structures and the addiction to conflict that plagues our dualistic minds. Let this eclipse, and the weeks leading up to the winter solstice cleanse all that does not serve. Explore where you feel most authentic, most passionate, most alive. This is a time of knowing when it is a good time to let die what needs to die so that what wants to be born can emerge.
In regards to a world he perceived to be moving in a direction out of control, the Buddhist Rinpoche Chogyam Trungpa said... "I have no doubt that the challenges will be considerable, but I never question that human beings like ourselves have the full capacity to relate with whatever is coming, as long as we train now in gentleness with ourselves, confidence in our basic goodness, courage, compassion, fearlessness and all the basic qualities necessary to awaken."
Thank you all for your contribution to our collective awakening.
Stellar Blessings,
Ryan

Tune In and Transform
We have some transformational action in the here and now, with more to come on the horizon. Where to begin... What to say...
My Yogi Tea quote for today sums it up nicely... “When you are in tune with the unknown, the known is peaceful.”
In this way, the dance of energy in our solar system and the unique angular relationships (or aspects) of the planets transiting 360 degrees around the Sun is the unknown. If we can tune ourselves with the multitudinous vibrations these aspects generate, the frequency we dial can be exceedingly peaceful. If peace is your intent, love your religion, awakening your path and truth your mission, there's plenty of planetary mojo to support the transformation of all that is not peaceful, within and without.
Mark November 13, 2012 on your calendar. We have a solar eclipse in Scorpio happening at 2:07 PM (PST). Lacking visibility in the northern hemisphere, we need only feel this new moon and align it with our innermost intentions. Augmented by the North Node of the Moon just five degrees away, this new moon is a window into our destiny. While spring is the customary season to plant our seeds, every new lunar cycle offers a unique soil with which to cultivate. Scorpio's new moon encourages us to cultivate our innermost truth and transform (i.e. let die) anything and everything in our lives that exists on a vibratory plane other than what we feel in our hearts to be true. As the night gets longer and the weather grows colder, the time is now to transmute the darkness into light. How best to do this depends on your answer to the following question... Where does your mind obscure your light with false identifications, denial and outdated labels?
Mercury’s retrograde transit from November 5 - 26 carries with it an invitation to pause and review the laundry list of bullshit you’ve been sold and continue to resell to yourself and others. Instead of acting according to what you “think” you “should” do, tap deeply into what you feel called to do. Taking great care not to identify with the seemingly negative emotions that arise in relationship to what you feel, transform how you are with what you feel. Feeling angry? Sad? Frustrated? Limited? Less than? Unworthy? Feel it without identification. No one makes you feel what you feel. Perhaps someone’s actions stir up a feeling of anger, or sadness, or frustration, but it’s yours and yours alone to reconcile. This energy needs an outlet and while we most commonly default to reacting unconsciously, this world can ill-afford anymore unconscious projections. Now’s the time to be response able and relate with this energy from the balanced and dis-identified place inside yourself that reconciles the negativity and puts it to good use by tuning into the truth of its opposite. What if your anger is the gateway to peace, your sadness the threshold of contentment, your frustration the window to acceptance? Let's face it, it is a fundamental law of physics that every action has an equal and opposite reaction. In this world of duality, it also makes sense that every emotion has an equal and opposite emotion. Whatever side of the fence you've been dialing into, the key is identifying with none of it. The waves ebb and flow like the ocean tides, and now that Neptune, the Greek God of the Sea and the solvent that dissolves the false limitation's of the ego, is progressing forward after many months retrograde, this is the time to let our logical mind rest and give ourselves over to our intuitive guidance. It's like we're being downloaded with a cosmic GPS system that can receive information from other planes of consciousness.
Neptune is orbiting through the sky in its dignified constellation, Pisces, which is it’s optimal frequency. Every planet rules a sign. Some rule two. When a planet transits through the sign they “rule,” their influence strengthens within our individual and collective psyche. What is Neptune? Neptune dissolves the veil (or ego) most of us hide behind. We veil our truth for fear of the denying influences of suppression and limitation, the domains of Saturn. Neptune helps dissolve the limiting attachments we have to the Saturnian world of form and structure. With Pluto in Capricorn's ongoing square dance with Uranus in Aries, Saturn’s three year residence in Scorpio accelerates the inevitable collapse and requisite transformation of outdated structures. Neptune in Pisces is exactly what we need to best align ourselves to create with all the available energy that arises when these inauthentic structures dismantle.
In a nutshell, Neptune’s forward movement into Pisces stirs the refined idealism of oneness with spirit (which encompasses both light and dark) and breathes this deeply into our consciousness. If you thought your dreams were taking you places before, fasten your seatbelt, hang your dreamcatcher and enjoy the ride. The wounds buried in our subconscious are surfacing (revealing our deeper purpose). Contrary to how painful this might feel, this is exactly where we want to be. This darker time of year, while often challenging, provides each and every one of us the creative fuel we need, from a place few among us are comfortable with. When we breathe into everything we feel, without identification and labels, we can align our intentions with whatever energy is arising. Imagine who you are, without attachment to what you’ve been labeled (by your self, your family and your culture) throughout your lifetime. Dropping all labels and the accompanying emotional associations (or false personalities) they generate opens us to the possibilities of a Neptune-in-Pisces-infused manifestation of our individual and collective dreams.
The warrior planet Mars enters Capricorn, the sign of its exaltation (which means this planet's awareness will be in great supply) on November 16. This will bring more focus to the transformational fires. Like a welder, we're going to be melting the steel-trap mind that's held antiquated fixations in place for far too long. I suggest you relax for the next few days. Let yourself be nurtured by the cosmic solvent of Neptune as it moves ever-so-slowly forward. There’s plenty of work to be done, much of it inner-work as we progress toward the winter solstice. Mars in Capricorn will help immensely to strengthen us through this time. Remember this is a marathon not a sprint. With Mercury retrograde until 11/26, you might want to curb the yearning to start new projects or agree to something contractually until your cognitive faculties have greater clarity. Let Mercury go direct before you make up your mind on anything. Be with the changing tides and see where they take you. Be honest with yourself, and others. Perhaps best stated in a quote from The Kite Runner, by Khaled Hosseini... "To lie is to murder the truth for your fellow man."
With love and gratitude for everyone dancing this dream awake, I bid you a blessed winter solstice and thank you for your contribution to our collective awakening.
Stellar blessings,
Ryan

Autumnal Equinox and Saturn in Scorpio...
At every seasonal shift we're encouraged to pause and review what has been, as we reinvigorate our intentions for the months ahead. What seeds did you plant in spring? What fruits did you cultivate in summer? What is the bounty you're now harvesting? What do you intend to hibernate with this winter? None of us are the same person we were a year ago. Even last week feels like it was a lifetime ago. This accelerated feeling, this sense of quickening that's happening for everyone, was forecast by several ancient civilizations.
If the Mayans, the Aztecs, the Native Americans and other wise cultures with were right, time is accelerating us into something. What...? Is it the end of the world (i.e. human consciousness) as we know it? Is it the return of the White Buffalo Calf Woman and the restoration of balance in an imbalanced world? Whatever will be will be and one thing is certain... this time in human evolution is deeply transformational. With a penchant for navigating the planetary influences on our collective narrative, I offer the major aspect to be aware of in the fall season...
On October 5, Saturn, the planet that rules order, structure and discipline completes a three year journey through the sign of Libra. This transit revealed to us the balance we're capable of generating when we relate with ourselves, with our loved ones and with the world in ways authentic to your true nature. The flip side of that coin revealed to us the imbalances we create when we lie or perpetuate outdated patterns and inauthentic forms of expression. I know I'm not the only one who had to look in the mirror of my unconscious projections (and the painful karmas they created as well as completed). This was of course for a purpose...
To take stock and remember the value of being true to who and what you are. If you persist with the lies and justifications as Saturn moves into Scorpio, the sign of transformation, death and rebirth, you won't be able to escape Saturn's (the lord of karma) sword of truth that cuts off the head of ignorance and false personalities. Nothing that is born can escape death. Make no mistake, I'm not talking about a literal death. I'm talking about the death of ego-identification. Which, for many of us, will feel a lot like dying. Because, as these identifications with the ego die within us, so too the structures that were designed by them must also die. Those of us who pursued a career, relationships, acquisitions or financial status in the world, we will have to take a long look in the mirror and ask this simple question: Is this a product of my truth or ego aggrandizement?
When the Sun passes over Saturn in Scorpio on October 25, and the heat generated by the transformational solar waves turns up, our fear of death - figurative in the form of ego-identification and literal to life in this body - will be primed for reconciliation. What lives on the other side is liberation. For those of us who genuinely fear death (in all its forms), please consider the following discourse from Alan Watts...
"When you die, you're not going to have to put up with everlasting non-existence because that's not an experience. A lot of people are afraid that when they die they're going to be locked up in a dark room forever, and sort of undergo that. But one of the most interesting things in the world... this is a yoga, a way of realization... is to try and imagine what it will be like to go to sleep and never wake up. Think about that. Children think about it. It's one of the great wonders of life. What will it be like to go to sleep and never wake up? And if you think long enough about that something will happen to you. You will find out, among other things, that it will post the next question to you: What was it like to wake up after never having gone to sleep? That was when you were born. You see, you can't have an experience of nothing. Nature abhors a vacuum. So after you're dead the only thing that can happen is the same experience, or the same sort of experience, as when you were born.
From a strictly physical, scientific standpoint this organism is a continuous energy with everything else that's going on. And if I am my foot, I am the sun. Only we've got this little partial view, we've got the idea that I'm just something in this body. The ego. That's a joke. The ego is nothing other than the focus of conscious attention. It's like a radar on a ship. The radar on a ship is a trouble shooter; 'is there anything in the way?' And conscious attention is a designed function of the brain to scan the environment, like a radar does, and note for any trouble making changes. And if you identify yourself with your trouble shooter, then naturally you define yourself as being in a perpetual state of anxiety. And the moment we cease to identify with the ego, and become aware that we are the whole organism, you realize how harmonious it all is. Because your organism is a miracle of harmony. All these things functioning together... even those corpuscles and creatures that are fighting each other in the blood stream and eating each other up. If they weren't doing that, you wouldn't be healthy. So what is discord at one level of your being is harmony at a higher level. And when you realize that, you begin to be aware too that the discords of your life and the discords of people's lives, which are a fight at one level, at a higher level of the universe are healthy and harmonious. And you suddenly realize that everything that you are and do, is, at that level, as magnificent and as free of any blemish as the patterns and waves, the markings and model, the way a cat moves. And that this world is really okay and can't be anything else otherwise it couldn't exist. But the reality underneath physical existence, or which really is physical existence because in my philosophy there's no difference between physical and spiritual. These are absolutely out of date categories. It's all a process. It isn't stuff on the one hand and form on the other. It is pattern. Life is pattern. It is a dance of energy." ~ Alan Watts
I don't claim to know what's in store for the dance of energy that is this world, but I do perceive through the lens of astrology an awakening of significant proportion to be available to those willing to do the work. There appears to me to be an opportunity to be reborn anew. Like never before I can transform my perception of who I am, from the personality I conditioned myself to believe I am and all the emotions that go with it, into the I... the I that I was before my parents were born... the sacred I AM beyond the endless ego-identifications that arise in this world of duality.
In western astrology the layers of personality are represented by the moon, the sun and the ascendant (or rising sign). According to the workbook Astrology For Yourself, the Moon refers to your past and represents the innermost core of your being, your private feelings and subconscious habits and attitudes. The Sun refers to your present and represents who you know yourself to be, your conscious purpose and identity. The ascendant refers to your future and represents your mask or persona that colors how you present yourself to the world at large.
To know how these aspects influence how you've been in the past, what you're influenced by in the present and where you can optimally be in service to this world moving forward, greatly informs exactly how and why you will benefit from dying a conscious death to all your ego-identifications.
In my eyes, there is nothing more important we can do for the healing of our planet and the generations to come than Wake Up to the lies we tell ourselves and each other, and Remember Our True Nature. Luminaries and sages both past and present have predicted mankind will perish if we fail to wake up in time. With the ecological state of the world, many fear it may be too late. Yet, here we are. My only question, both to myself and to you, is this....
What are you going to do about it?
If you choose to ignore the question, or forgo implementing the changes you feel in your gut to be necessary, Saturn will hold no punches as its transit through Scorpio dismantles your attachments to these outdated identifications... whether you like it or not. If you do choose to get out in front of this wave, and allow your intuition to guide you where you need to be, Saturn's energy will instead be available to support the restructuring of the world you (we) consciously create. Remember, the choice is (y)ours.
In gratitude to all for your contribution to our collective awakening.
Stellar blessings,
Ryan

Stellar blessings,
Ryan

Live and Let Die
If you're reading this post, it means you survived one of the most egocentric Mercury retrogrades ever (complete tonight, August 7 at 10:39 PM PDT), and hopefully it expanded your awareness of your true-nature in the process. If you endured ego-death after ego-death, you were not alone. Mercury, the ruler of communication, cognition and rational thought trekked backwards for three weeks through self-centered Leo. Everywhere your ego is at play, which is basically everywhere, you're being forced to examine your attachments, most commonly by way of having them ripped out of hands clinging desperately to that which must be released.
My advice is to take advantage of this transformational time and let it go, whatever "it" is. Genuine detachment opens a window to observe the origin of these attachments, which are never the attachments themselves. It's like ripping the scab off the (many) wounds you'd rather not deal with, and letting it bleed until the healing is complete. Sound painful? It is. But pain doesn't cause suffering. It is only how we relate to pain that causes us to suffer.
Why deal with it and heal it now? Why not brush the traumatic memories under the rug and pretend aren't there? Aside from fueling the unconscious projections that are ravaging this world, I'll give you two astrological reasons:
1. Saturn enters extremist Scorpio October 5, 2012. Whatever ego-structures you've developed to protect you from feeling your wound(s) is about to be exposed with even greater intensity. When it comes to Saturn, there's no escaping doing the work that must be done. In the annihilating sign of Scorpio, it's all about transforming the darkness into light. Everyone is encouraged to do the work now, let die what needs to die, and allow yourself to be reborn anew. It's far more empowering to volunteer to do something than it is to be forced to do it. And one way or another, Saturn in transformational Scorpio will make sure you deal with it. The more you resist, the more Saturn persists.
2. Venus just finished FOUR MONTHS moving through indecisive Gemini, in which her five weeks of retrograde exposed the imbalanced ways we relate, what we're unconsciously attracted to and, perhaps most importantly, how well we're relating with the groundlessness of a world spiraling out of control. Most of us are in denial, on some level, and that will either intensify this month or be radically polarized into accepting and loving ourselves and this world without condition. This morning Venus entered insecure Cancer, where it will spend almost two weeks in harmonious trine aspect to Neptune and Chiron in delusional Pisces. This aspect gives us a unique opportunity to tune in with what's real in our lives, vs. what we've conditioned ourselves to believe (and continue to attract people and situations to substantiate those beliefs) based on protecting ourselves from feeling the imbalance generated by our deepest wounds. It's a powerful time to shift the paradigm. Rather than suppress the intensity our emotions, we can create with them like never before.
On the skillful side, Venus is extra sensitive in compassionate Cancer and Neptune is transcendental in psychic Pisces. With our inter-personal and trans-personal feminine archetypes optimally placed in water signs, we're best served at this time to feel our way through, as opposed to think our way through whatever is arising in the fabric of our lives. When we listen, and allow ourselves to be guided by what we hear, we will align with our purpose at this pivotal time on the planet. We're navigating wider and wider bandwidths of polarity, light and dark, masculine and feminine, and key to all of this is the Golden Mean - which reminds us to remain always in the middle.
When Mars conjuncts with Saturn, exact on August 15, the masculine warrior and drill sergeant archetypes will align together in the sign of justice and balance. Sounds powerful, and it is. But it isn't likely to be pretty. Impetuous Mars doesn't like to be told what to do. Saturn won't take no for an answer. This conjunction will show us where and how forcing and controlling can no longer be tolerated (whether your the one controlling, or being controlled, it could get ugly). This aspect implores us to acknowledge and take ownership of where where where power is imbalanced by excessive force. There's a big difference between power and force. Mars is inclined to force things to happen. Saturn offers much needed guidance in the human condition that inspires us to do, do, do with force driven by the fear that we're going to run out of "time." David Hawkings, MD Ph.D, in his book POWER vs. FORCE, wrote...
"The source of all life and all form is, of necessity, greater than its manifestations; yet, it's neither different nor separate from the manifestations to any degree. There's no conceptual artifact of separate between creator and created. As scripture states, that which is, was, and always shall be.
Time, then, is much like a hologram that already stands complete; it's a subjective, sensory effect of a progressively moving point of view. There's no beginning and no end to a hologram, it's already everywhere, complete - in fact, the appearance of being "unfinished" is part of its completeness. Even the phenomenon of "unfoldment" itself reflects a limited point of view: There is no enfolded and unfolded universe, only a becoming awareness. Our perception of events happening in time is analogous to a traveler watching the landscape unfold before him. But to say that landscape unfolds before the traveler is merely a figure of speech - nothing is actually unfolding; nothing is actually becoming manifest. There's only progression of awareness.
These paradoxes dissolve into the greater paradigm that includes both opposites, wherein oppositions as such are only related to the locations of the observer."
What is your location? We have a spectacular window to see the origin of the endless chatter in your ego mind, and polarize the negative valence of fear and doubt with the higher frequencies of love and peace. Trite as it may sound, it's the order of the day. Think about it, not from the rational mind that's going to shrug it off as some new age woo woo that's impractical, but from the intuitive mind, the feminine that senses and embodies this foundation of our true nature. Venus is in the sign ruled by the Moon (our emotional self), so this is where feeling becomes the key ingredient for the alchemy necessary to attract exactly what we need, both as individuals and as a collective, for peace and harmony in this holographic universe. Beware the gravitating force of the unconscious that leads us blindly towards what "it" wants. Remain vigilant in focusing on what "you" need for the embodiment of your true purpose.
When Mars begins his assent into magnetic Scorpio on August 23, we'll be able to assert ourselves with even greater power. Mercury will be strong in his forward motion through magnanimous Leo. Walk and talk with renewed power and channel the light that's increasing in equal measure to the darkness that's surfacing around the planet. It all comes down to choice. What are you choosing to focus your attention on at this incredible time on Earth?
In gratitude to everyone for your unique contribution to our collective awakening.

Love is wanting the other to BE
Venus transited the sun. Like a double rainbow we can't help but ponder, what does it mean?!
Astronomically, it won't happen again in our lifetime. That feels substantial. Astrologically, it's a conjunction of the sun, the astral archetype that represents our essence, with Venus, the astral archetype of the lover. This combination implores us to tune our minds and focus our awareness on creating with conviction what we love.
The union of these two in the sign of Gemini offers us a spectacular, albeit tricky, two-sided view of who you are in combination with what you love. Basically, this magical union in the sky opens a window of remembering what you love is who you are. Gemini shows us both sides of the relationship coin, so you must also remember that what you hate is also who you are. It's all and everything right now... the light side of conscious love and the dark side of unconscious (egoic) love.
At the mere mention of love, it's nearly impossible for any of us not to default into the romantic notions championed in the lyrics of most songs playing on the radio air waves, and narrated in the majority of movies screening in your neighborhood multiplex. "What society honors," wrote Aristotle, "will be cultivated." Programmed to believe the magical other is lingering around the corner, waiting to complete us, we set out to catch the eye of one potential mate after another, holding in our mind a futile faith that someone out there will complete us. The inconvenient truth that popular entertainment seldom shares, let alone prepares us for, is that this conditioned fantasy is built on a host of unconscious projections. Adding insult to injury, our limbic attachment to romantic love is interwoven with the unique imprinting of mom and dad's ability (or inability as is often the case) to consciously love one another. Our emotional fate, it seems, is therefore inextricably bound to the ability of our parents to love one another.
"And the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started, knowing the place for the first time." ~ T.S. Elliot
Observing mother and father, the pivotal masculine and feminine archetypal relationship, our brains develope limbic patterns of what it feels like to be in a loving relationship. As we enter adulthood, we unconsciously emanate and replicate the same vibratory field engrained from our childhood. Fellas, how many of your girlfriends turned out to be curious clones of one or more aspects of your mother? Ladies, how many of your boyfriends make you feel in some way like your father did? And isn't it curious when the opposite sex doesn't have these familiar tones, something feels off? Chalk it up to yet another paradox of life in duality. We yearn to extricate ourselves from the dysfunctions of our family history, seeking a taste of the unconditional love obscured by this complex structure of unconscious vibrations, yet we're inextricably bound to magnetize to us that which we long to extricate ourselves from.
And this, among other dualistic paradoxes, is what I see is ripe for reconciliation at this time. These unconscious vibratory patterns are what Venus retrograde (along with Saturn retrograde in Libra, the sign of relationship and balance) reflects back at us, giving us a very real opportunity to identify, and subsequently dis-identify, or revise our unconscious limbic attractors.
This transit is best summarized by James Hollis, from The Eden Project: In Search of the Magical Other... "We are reminded by ancient counsel, that we should beware of getting what we want. Depth psychology echoes this: we could be getting simply what the complex wants, what the unconscious history wants, what the unlived life wants. And then, given this unholy origin, the relationship can only play out the tragic script to which it is covertly bound."
I realize it is a tall order to revise our unconscious limbic attractors. This takes a lot more work than reading an astrology blog. It requires us to pay close attention. One guidepost is to recognize where the habitual masculine dominance of the left hemisphere of your brain inhibits the creative feminine freedom in the right hemisphere. Are you willing to allow your intuition to rise above your rational mind when it comes to the choices in your life? What if, instead of resisting and persisting with the boring narrative conjured up in your unconscious projections, you surrender your resistance and consciously create with the increasing intensity on this planet? With Mars transiting powerfully through Virgo, our masculine aspiration is generating real friction in square aspect with our feminine inspiration. With Venus weakened in her retrograde state, the sun's luminous support gives us all we need to recognize where and how our thinking mind distracts us from the intuitive knowing rising up in all of us.
Remaining objective in our awareness (as opposed to getting subjectively identified with the story unfolding in our lives) allows Mars in Virgo to share his strength in service to whatever we're consciously choosing to create. One very real requirement, if we want to tap into Mar's creative fire, is to understand the warrior archetype's transit through Virgo. Simply put, what we create must be in service to our fellow man, our global family, and the healing of our planet. Instead of going for what you want, can you embrace the opportunity to architect your narrative with attention on where and how you can best be in service? In the end, it seems to me, we are all in service to love. To giving and receiving love, without attachment. So what does it mean to love?
James Hollis writes..."Of every projection we must ask, 'What does this say about me?' And what we are asking of the Other, we are obliged then to ask of ourselves. Since projections are unconscious in their origin, the need for such work usually arises only due to the suffering that follows the erosion of the projection. Yet it is through taking on the heroic task of lifting our projections off of the Other that we may best serve their interest, that is, love them. As Mahatma Gandhi once remarked, "A coward is incapable of exhibiting love; it is the prerogative of the brave." Projection, fusion, "going home," is easy; loving another's otherness is heroic. If we really love the Other as Other, we have heroically taken on the responsibility for our own individuation, our own journey. This heroism may properly be called love. St. Augustine put it this way: "Love is wanting the other to be."
Can you do this? Can you want the other, ALL OTHERS, to simply be?
If you find yourself judging another, for ANY reason, there's a part of you (as an embodiment of the Self) that you're denying. Look at it! Recognize yourself. It's an expression of the shadow that lives in us all. You don't have to identify with it, but you do have to honor it. The end of the Saturn and Venus retrograde cycles give us a powerful opportunity to reconcile our collective shadow in the realm of our relationships. Saturn goes direct on June 25. Venus does the same two days later, on June 27. There is no better time to take back your projections, and refuse (with compassion) to enable the projections put upon you by the Other. For now, allow yourself to explore all aspects of your unconscious reactions, as they arise in the next couple of weeks. Once you make them conscious, by definition they can no longer be unconscious. When the planet of structure and discipline (Saturn), and the planet of the lover and what we're attracting into our lives (Venus) go direct, we can conscoiusly restructure how and what we attract. If there's anything you wish to see in the world, now's the time to BE it.
Thank you for BEING in service to our collective awakening.

Scorpio full moon
Can you feel it? Earth's vibration is accelerating. Like the electromagnetism of an egg drawing in the perfect seed with which to be fertilized, so too mother Gaia opens to receive intentions woven with the devotional embodiment of your true nature.
"Know thy Self." ~ Socrates
Know also the power of your source. In astrology, the Sun (and more specifically the zodiac sign it transited through the moment you were born) represents your source. From this source you tap into the unlimited power to create, to be miraculous, and to experience the joy of being alive. What disconnects you from this divine source symbolizes your ego.
"What is your ego? Your ego is nothing more than an idea that you carry around with you everywhere you go. This idea tells you that you are the sum total of what you have, or what you do and who you are. Ego insists that you are a separate being, that your personality and your body are your essence and that you are in competition with every other ego to get your share of the pie which is limited and finite. Therefore ego asserts you must be wary of others." ~ Dr. Wayne Dyer
Countless permutations of this perpetual mechanism of separation have been exposed both in our culture and within ourselves. The lies we're told, especially the one's we tell ourselves, are up for a monumental reconciliation. Throughout this post I will highlight some important dates where planetary alignments will spark enormous opportunities to channel and create alchemy with what might otherwise be triggering or challenging. I invite you to keep in mind, the specific dates and transits are secondary in importance to maintaining an omnipresent awareness that the ego-based structures once maintained as truth are dying a timely death.
I'm going to start at the outer most weigh station of our trans-personal awareness (Pluto) and move in from there, denoting important dates associated with these planets.
Pluto squares Uranus (several times):
Pluto in Capricorn reminds us the clarity of truth we seek is revealed when we release our grasp on the fallacy of the past. With history untangling from the web of our unconscious fears and illusions, we're called like never before to generate with this available energy the conscious light of a new dawn.
Uranus in Aries demands us to step into our warrior archetypal awareness and break through the false boundaries of perceived limitation.
Dates and dynamics for exact Pluto-Uranus squares:
June 24, 2012 - this one has added punch with the Sun opposing Pluto and squaring Uranus. We will all be called to remember all despair and suffering in this world (and the global and domestic political landscape claiming to have the solution) is only the illusion of our internal memories and fears, propagated by the ego, to keep us asleep.
September 18, 2012 - once again the Sun jumps in, this time opposing Uranus and squaring Pluto. Rebel not against the outward appearance of the shadow, but your inner identification with it.
May 20, 2013 -now that you're embodying your truth, your thoughts and communication must align with it.
November 1, 2013 - this one will be a wild ride. The stage is being set for the true alchemist in all of us to step forth and be reborn by integrating all the energy freed up by the ongoing death cycle of the old structures.
Neptune: The planet of divine mother energy will be in Pisces, the sign it rules, until 2025. The paranormal will be the new normal through this progression. In a nutshell, we're awakening to faculties that are innate to the human design, but dormant in most of us until now. Tune in. Listen. Be guided not by your rational mind (ego), but your intuitive heart.
Uranus: see above
Saturn: The planet of limitation, discipline and structure has been retrograde in Libra since February, and goes direct on June 25, 2012. Everywhere relationships have been difficult, and you've struggled against irritability and feeling a lack of "something" is where your falsely perceived limitations of yourself are up for reconciliation. I encourage you to dial in your relationship to the trans-personal planets mentioned above before Saturn goes direct. They're always available, but Saturn's retrograde softens the barrier so that we can access and solidify our connection to these seemingly "other-worldly" faculties.
"There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle." ~ Albert Einstein
Jupiter: The planet of expansion progresses through Taurus and into Gemini on June 11, 2012. Ground now, especially with the full moon in Scorpio, all your intentions for this year. Let the remainder of Jupiter's transit through Taurus expand the seeds your planting (RIGHT NOW) deep into the Earth. The Scorpio full Moon will water the seeds of our deepest intention, so that in six months (when the moon is full in Taurus), we will be harvesting fruits in unprecedented volume.
"You are a magical person who can manifest your clear intentions into reality. Recall the times of your magical abilities, and then put them to use immediately for the good of the entire planet. Resume the mission that was once aborted through the misdeeds of past-time leaders. Take up your spiritual arms and move with swift speed into the night, awakening one and all to the magic that is life itself." ~ Doreen Virtue
Mars: The planet of the warrior demands great discipline and service in Virgo. Use your power and strength to initiate and create with your underlying purpose as a peaceful warrior in service to the world at large. Resistance will arise in equal measure to all that you initiate, and the 4th way (Gurdjieff's "The Work") insists that you cease identification with the denying energy that obstructs your limitless potential. Here you take responsibility for what is arising in your field of awareness and experience. Transform the negativity into creative energy. Transform the positivity into creative energy. With the full moon in Scorpio, the transformational message is to let go of ALL that has been, go deeper, plant seeds with the resonant vibration of your heart and CREATE your path accordingly.
Any path is only a path. And there's no a front to oneself or to others in dropping it if that's what your heart tells you to do." ~ Carlos Casteneda
Venus: The planet of the lover and what (and who) you're attracting into your life goes retrograde in Gemini on May 15, 2012 and direct again on June 27. This transit invites a review of how we're communicating, the limitations of the mind and the current that projects our unconscious stuff into the world. If you thought the Republican primaries were ugly, the run up to the 2012 election will make those shadow projections and attacks look like child's play.
***We have a VENUS TRANSIT http://www.transitofvenus.org/ on June 5 at 6:09 PM (PDT). Mark your calendar, grab your eclipse glasses http://telescopes.net/store/awb-solar-eclipse-shades.html and watch the planet of love and attraction pass over our divine source. Focus your thoughts, generated from the seat of your heart, on that which you want to feel in your life, and in this world. Let go of all limitations. Say yes to love. Sing it in everything you do throughout the rest of the year. Carry the vibration into everything you create.
Mercury: The planet that rules our communication and our cognitive abilities will go from Aries, where it's added agitation and fire to our self-defeating thoughts, into Taurus on May 8. Here you can lighten up and direct your thoughts into the architecture of your worldly pleasures. Let this focus fuel Mercury as it enters Gemini, the sign it rules on May 24. This will dial the mind into the aforementioned intuition and root the vibrations we put out into the love the Venus Sun transit inspires.
Additional dates. We have a solar eclipse at 4:46 PM (PDT) on May 20, 2012, visible on the west coast of North America (among many places). For info. on when and where you can see it, visit Solar Eclipse . As far as the astrology is concerned, the sun and moon will be at zero degrees Gemini. Another potent opportunity for us all to recognize our thoughts create our reality. Step out of subjective identification and into objective oneness with all energies as they arise. Let it ALL feed your creative endeavors. Align with the groundless nature of existence, in preparation for more and more of the old constructs that are ripe to fall away in the months to come.
The moon waxes full in Scorpio as I type this. Get clear. Focus attention on the seeds of your intentions. Let the soma rain of this moon water these seeds. Play with this, for the next six months. What are you going to harvest when the moon waxes full in Taurus in November? The universe is offering us all the transformative energy we need to deconstruct the blocks that prevent us from manifesting our dreams - or perhaps better stated, allowing our dreams to manifest us! To do this, the integration of your ego, in all its complexities, is paramount to transforming the imbalances within and without. It is up to each and every one of us to look in the mirror and die to all patterns and identifications that no longer serve. Imagine what you can create with that available energy...

The time is now...
There comes a time in everyone's life when we have to be honest with ourselves. You're either on the bus or off the bus? A metaphor coined by Ken Kessey, the bus in this post is your dharma - those behaviors considered necessary for the maintenance of the natural order of things, i.e. your purpose in the greater good of the collective. The bus is about to leave the station, and I suggest you take every measure necessary to be on it.
Many of us uncorked our proverbial (or literal) bottle of champagne when the clock struck midnight on December 31, and akin to the misfortune of premature ejaculation, we began the calendar new year with a whimper instead of a roar.
Why is it that time and again we sputter through the first few months of the year and bemoan yet another failed attempt to live up to the intentions we set? Because January through March is still winter, and the Sun's limited availability marks a time more aligned with introspective meditation on all that occurred in the year prior, the assimilation of the lessons gleaned and the resultant reformulation of the seeds we're preparing to plant in spring. Have you ever planted seeds when the ground is still frozen and expected a miraculous growth to occur? Good luck. Adding to the Sun's limited presence, Mars was retrograde from January 23 - April 13. Thus, our creative power wasn't nearly strong enough to set the world on fire and make manifest our dreams.
That was then, this is now. Like never before, NOW is time to get your A-game on. Why now? Spring is in full swing, the Sun's getting higher in the sky and the recent New Moon in Taurus formed a stellar grand trine with Mars (now direct) in Virgo and Pluto in Capricorn. This aspect implores us to transform all that has been into the energy we need to move forward with the new structure of what we're creating in the year ahead. While the moon treks forward, the Sun remains steadfast for the next two weeks in an extraordinary earth grand trine with Pluto and Mars. Translation... plant your seeds and plant them deep. The soma rain of the upcoming Scorpio full moon (May 5), and the ongoing progression of this year's transits add nuclear power to whatever you plant now.
After opposing an exceptionally potent full moon in Scorpio, the Sun enters a welcome conjunction with Jupiter in Taurus (exact on May 13). How far and wide can you expand your experience of earthly delights? Color your imagination with every sensory exploration you want to have. Right now is the time to feel with solidified clarity exactly what you want in the year ahead. One of the best ways we can honor our ancestors for all they endured is to dis-identify from their karma and liberate our unique truth in being. It's time to dance your dance. Like never before, this is supported by multiple planetary aspects.
Mercury in Aries calls you to be a warrior and speak your truth. Venus in Gemini reminds you that you're dancing in two worlds, and you can attract the boons you need to succeed from the formless realms and give them form as you choose. Mars in Virgo insists that you put your energy, your focus and your actions forward IN SERVICE to the greater good of your fellow man. Jupiter in Taurus expands the influence of your higher mind into this earthly plane, and supports the physical manifestation of your creative integration. Saturn continues to retrograde through Libra, giving you more opportunity to see where and how you relate in imbalanced ways, while softening the barrier to the outer (trans-personal) planets. Uranus in Aries breaks down the barriers in your mind that perceive false limitations, activating the strength of your uncompromising warrior. With Neptune dignified in Pisces, your quantum awareness and extrasensory perception is growing exponentially. You're questioning "what's real?" and realizing that you yourself create all the authorities you accept. Pluto in Capricorn destroys the structures established by the cultural conditioning of false authorities, giving birth to your true nature.
All of these transits remind you to listen to your own divinity. Listen is an anagram for Silent. In the quietude of your heart of hearts, you realize you needn't seek anything. Simply be who you are.
"Are you looking for me? I am in the next seat.
My shoulder is against yours.
You will not find me in stupas, not in Indian shrine rooms,
nor in synagogues, nor in cathedrals:
not in masses, nor kirtans, not in legs winding around your
own neck, nor in eating nothing but vegetables.
When you really look for me, you will see me instantly--
you will find me in the tiniest house of time.
Kabir says: Student, tell me, what is God?
He is the breath inside the breath."
~ Kabir
That says it all. Inhale with your attention in the seed of your deepest intentions. Exhale and listen to the divine guidance that follows. Act accordingly.
With love and gratitude for your contribution to our collective awakening...

Full Moon in Libra
The moon waxes full in Libra as I type these words. With deadlines looming, I must be brief. The key in this moment is gathering the relationship lessons of Saturn's two and a half year transit through Libra, the sign in the zodiac that represents the part of us that longs for balance, justice and right relationship.
First and foremost, know there are plenty of planets squaring each other in the sky, which is to say there's no shortage of friction, irritation or agitation. And this is ours to work with. The trick is to not shy away from the feelings that are arising and at the same time remember not to identify with them. The middle ground is to honor your feelings by channeling this energy into creating what you love in this world. No more projecting your anger, or suppressing your sadness. Enough with the frustration that accompanies playing the role of victim. The world needs us to take all this high charged energy and stop making it about you. Mercury went retrograde into Pisces to take us all into the beauty and the dregs of human emotions. There's a lot to feel. An overwhelming amount, when we identify and label our emotions as "mine."
There truth is, we're all empathic on some level. While some are more sensitive to the experience of feeling everyone else's feelings (a shout out to my fellow water and earth signs), we are all effected by the feelings of those around us and in the world at large.
As Mercury moves forward, and Mars prepares to do the same on April 13, we have a great opportunity to comprehend our unique contribution to the collective and put into motion our unique gift to humanity. In deference to time constraints and keeping this message simple, I'll save you the planetary aspects to which I'm referring, and simply illuminate the month ahead.
First, I implore you to gather the ocean of emotions you have moving through you. It doesn't matter if it's your story, or his-story, or the world's unfolding narrative. Table your subjective identification with your feelings, and step forward with your work, your contribution, to a planet desperate for you to be you. If you're holding yourself back, denying your heart's calling and giving credence instead to the false beliefs designed by a survival based ego structure, now's the time to make the shift from fear to freedom, from darkness to light and from death to immortality.
God offers to every mind its choice between truth and repose. Take which you please - you can never have both." ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
The simple, albeit extremely opposed, task of walking your truth will create a ripple effect of immeasurable value in our collective consciousness. With Mars accumulating all of Virgo's energy in its retrograde cycle, we have an enormous opportunity to fully regain our strength when it goes direct (April 13). Caveat emptor, if you want to see your dreams and intentions manifest, Mars in Virgo makes one simple request... that you direct your energy, your powerful life force, in a way that serves the highest good of all concerned. Really drop in and ask your Self, "is this in my highest good?" Next check in with your intuition and ask "is this in the highest good of all concerned?" I've mentioned in the past how potent our intuitive faculties are with Neptune in Pisces. Right now Venus in Gemini is creating friction between what your thinking mind (Gemini) wants to attract (Venus), and the alignment of your intuitive perception (Neptune) with the highest good for all concerned (Pisces). We're being given another review of where our ego attachments and habituations still muddle the union of what we want and what we need. Don't get down on yourself if you're discovering things that make you feel uncomfortable. Use it as the fuel you need to step forth in a new, more truthful way.
April 21 brings an incredible opportunity to make the shifts you now realize you need to make. The new Moon conjunct the Sun in Taurus forms a harmonious grand trine aspect to the newly direct Mars in Virgo and Pluto in Capricorn. Take all that's pouring through you now (the good, the bad and the ugly) and direct it into what you love.
"Let the beauty of what you love be what you do." ~ Rumi
Plant your seeds. Be intentional. Let die what needs to die now, and at this next new moon be prepared to plant the seeds of your heart's calling. Be prepared for the persistent denial that arises in the thinking mind. Take everything that opposes your intentions (negative thought patterns, challenging social circumstance, etc.) and instead of identifying this opposition as yet another validation of the false ego-construct that says "I'm not good enough," reconcile the resistance by channeling it into usable energy to proceed like the phoenix rising out of the fire. Soar powerfully into that good night, and rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Thank you all for your courageous contribution to our collective awakening.
Stellar Blessings,
Ryan

- Do not go gentle into that good night,
- Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
- Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
- Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
- Because their words had forked no lightning they
- Do not go gentle into that good night.
- Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
- Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
- Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
- Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
- And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
- Do not go gentle into that good night.
- Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
- Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
- Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
- And you, my father, there on the sad height,
- Curse, bless me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
- Do not go gentle into that good night.
- Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Let What You Love Be What You Do
Happy Holi Days! With the festival of colors being celebrated throughout India, and the freedom to play and behave outside the normal boundary of societal constraints, there’s no shortage of colorful aspects dancing around the solar system encouraging us all to do the same thing. While there are a multitude of planetary transits to discuss, it all boils down to one inexorable truth; We are all connected. The inter-connectivity of every organism on this planet, on levels both subtle and obvious, asks us to pay very close attention to what's mine to feel, and what isn't? Coming into harmony with this paradoxical reality of being one with the universe, and at the same time separate in our unique emotional experience of it, is what the full moon in Virgo is all about.
"A question that sometimes drives me hazy: am I or are the others crazy?" ~ Albert Einstein
That quote from one of the greatest minds of the twentieth century summarizes the Sun's transit through Pisces. As winter draws to a close, an ocean of emotions and a peculiar sense of delusion surrounds the chaos created by man's unconscious actions and emotions flooding the planet. In every interaction, be it one-on-one, with a group, or with the collective, an alchemy of energy stirs us to feel things we wouldn't otherwise. The gift of this full moon in Virgo (exact on Thursday 3/8 at 1:39 AM PST) is the ability to discriminate between what’s mine to do and feel, and what’s nothing more than an empathic connection to the pain and suffering in the field of whomever I'm relating with. This particular full moon also illuminates your innate capacity to discern where (and why) you’re attached to old patterns. The Sun in Pisces invites you to surrender and feel all the emotions stirring inside of you, regardless of who they belong to, and let them move through you as quickly as they arise. While the mind has a penchant for the analytical process they frequently provoke, the heart's being called to rise up and allow compassion to quell ego reaction. The danger is to either suppress these feelings or get swept up by them, and the boon is to recognize it all as nothing more than patterns and waves, which shifts the subjective identification to objective awareness.
Pluto has been burning our identifications in the funeral pyre since it entered Capricorn in 2008, and it's not going to stop. Regardless of whether our identifications have a positive or negative charge, the planet of death and rebirth transiting through the sign of structure and order will eventually transform all labels and identifications. With the darkness of winter coming to a welcome end, and the light of spring on the horizon, the key to a harmonious and fruitful year is to LET GO of the old and align with the now. Easier said than done. Your environment will resist your every attempt to step out of the mold inside of which it perceives you. Referring back to last month's post, it requires unwavering commitment to your truth to transmute these denying energies and integrate them into the energy with which you can create.
"I am a human; I only understand relative truth. So my understanding of truth can change from day to day. And my commitment must be to truth rather than to consistency." ~ Gandhi
Psychological studies have proven the human mind prefers misery over change, because that which is familiar offers a sense of safety unavailable in the land of uncertainty. Regardless of how awful the familiar might be, letting it go is one of the most difficult human endeavors. Our limbic system suffers withdrawal in the absence of the familiar, and added to the resistance from our environment, the ego conjures thoughts of doubt and disbelief when we face the threshold of the unknown. In a manner of speaking, the obstacles are many, and the cards are heavily stacked against the awakening we incarnated to experience.
"Success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which he has overcome. ~ Booker T. Washington"
If you're like me, you've considered cashing in your chips and rejoining the unconscious masses on more than one occasion. It's a heck of a lot easier to watch any one of the three hundred channels available at the click of a button, than it is to meditate for half an hour. Yet, we continue to shed the layers because we know there's no going back. With the awareness that it's darkest just before the dawn, I'm happy to share that spring and summer have the potential to blossom the fruits of our labors in unprecedented fashion. Let me describe the astrology behind this statement.
As I write this, the Sun opposes both the Moon and Mars (retrograde until 4/13). The ability to dissolve identifications that perpetuate our unconscious actions (or inactions), and transform this energy into conscious, disciplined action is what the moon's transit over Mars in Virgo is all about. All the old, ancestral, as well as past life karma is what we’ve been digesting in our winter hibernation. The scathing sense of apathy resultant of the ego's compulsory bent towards perceiving yourself as a "victim," or anyone as a "perpetrator," can and will come to rest, so long as we align with our service in the world and commit ourselves to doing the work we know we came here to do.
"Don’t let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do." ~ John Wooden
There are multiple aspects aligning in support of your unique purpose. With Jupiter and Venus together in Taurus, we're like magnets for the resources and partners necessary to expand and bring our unique vision to fruition. Buyer beware, we're also a magnet for the same unconscious distractions that have prevented success in the past. With Pisces and Virgo incredibly active, we have the capacity to intuit what's in alignment with our purpose, and the discernment to focus our energy accordingly.
The Grand Trine (harmonious aspect) in Earth signs offers tremendous support for radically restructuring what's out of balance (Pluto in Capricorn), creating a foundation of abundance and tangible results with our heart’s longing (Venus conjunct Jupiter in Taurus), and stepping out of the subjective desires and into our unique service in the world (Mars in Virgo). The key, for the rest of March especially, is to allow your intuitive listening to guide your movement forward with unabashed confidence, and place your trust this faculty whenever opportunity knocks.
"Opportunities multiply as they are seized." ~ Sun Tzu
Last month's blog discussed Neptune's transit through Pisces as a bridge to our intuitive faculties. While accessing this extrasensory perception isn't an overnight phenomenon, I implore you to play with this in every choice you make. In a universe expanding exponentially in all directions, and a world spiraling rapidly into the groundless uncertainty of nothing to hold on to, what is required now more than ever is the trust in our ability to relate with whatever is coming. This will require great courage when life circumstance generates resistance equal to whatever you're affirming. If you can remember to dis-identify, and remain in your center, you can integrate these two opposing energies as the fuel you need for the fulfillment of every intention you plant this spring equinox (March 19, at 9:14 PM PST).
"It is plain that there is no separate essence called courage, no cup or cell in the brain, no vessel in the heart containing drops or atoms that make or give this virtue; but it is the right or healthy state of every man, when he is free to do that which is constitutional to him to do. It is directness, --the instant performing of that which he ought." ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
The heightened energy on the planet stimulates the excess of oppositional forces and revolutionary zeal on both sides of every argument in the current zeitgeist, as well as within ourselves. All the lies and conflict in our field of awareness generate the friction we all need to wake up to the truth. Welcome it all. Who you should believe, who's right and who's wrong, isn't for me (nor anyone else) to say. We cannot escape in all matters of belief from opinion. And each of us has a subjective opinion built around a lifetime of personal experience, and our thoughts and actions reflect this conditioned way of being.
And there's the rub. We're not our conditioning. Sure we can identify with any given label (good, bad, right, wrong) at any given moment. We're human. We relate to the other as separate because our dualistic mind perceives this reality, especially when the other behaves in a manner incongruent with our subjective beliefs. As I mentioned in my last post, when you're in reaction to anything, it's not you. It's coming from your mind (ego). And that's what's up for reconciliation in A BIG WAY as Mercury goes retrograde (March 11, 11:48PM PST), first in the fiery rebel Aries, and then into the emotional dreamer Pisces.
With the active part of ourself (Mars), along with our limited nature (Saturn) also retrograde, we will likely review the mind's false separation of the finite self and the infinite Self. The latter represents the inexorable oneness and connectivity mentioned at the beginning of this post, and the former reflects the sense of separation intrinsic to the dualistic world in which we live. The Sun in Pisces reminds us this world isn’t the only domicile in which we reside. And Mercury’s retrograde cycle starts right when we have an extraordinary amount of harmonious energy available to fertilize our dreams. Ram Das said it best when he encourages us to “Quiet the mind, open the heart, and deal with the suffering in front of you.” With Venus passing over Jupiter at 9 degrees Taurus, in exact trine aspect to Mars at 9 degrees Virgo and Pluto at 9 degrees Capricorn, the opportunity to dissolve the veil between the finite nature of the mind and the infinite nature of the heart, and the ability to integrate every action moving forward in accordance with this awareness, is golden ticket available to all. Neptune's sextile stimulates the Venus Jupiter conjunction with unimaginable creative juices. Plant the seeds of your deepest intentions in the fertile soil of an emptied mind. Infinite fruits await.
"When the act of reflection takes place in the mind, when we look at ourselves in the light of thought, we discover that our life is embosomed in beauty. Behind us, as we go, all things assume pleasing forms, as clouds do far off.... For it is only the finite that has wrought and suffered; the infinite lies stretched in smiling repose." ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
ALL of this can be simplified in one sentence...

"The Siva tattva is immortal, the transcendent vibratory principle. The universe, in undifferentiated unity, lives in its very being, though appearing to be different from it. It is conscious and nondual., the source of infinite bliss. It is the highest luminous truth, Sankara, the all-pervasive Self of all."
~ from Nothing Exists That Is Not Siva by Swami Muktananda
Happy Shivatratri New Moon. Om Namah Shivaya blessings
Neptune in Pisces
Om Namah Shivaratri blessings.
In the spirit of India’s auspicious celebration in honor of lord Shiva, the Sun pulses Pisces love to dissolve your old stories, step forward on your hero's journey, and dream this dream awake.
“Dreams are only disguised feelings. The more we bring these painful experiences to the fore, the easier they become to deal with. Fore? What’s fore mean?”
~ Jennifer Tilly, from Woody Allen’s “Bullets Over Broadway”
The message of the moment is the Sun’s conjunction with Neptune in Pisces, which will be joined by the new moon in exact conjunction at 2:34PM on Tuesday, 2/21. Our true feelings are freeing themselves from the ego's control, and coming to the fore like never before (pun slightly intended). To be succinct, our attractors are tuning us to a higher vibration. As Jupiter moves out of it’s opposition to Saturn, the ego softens its grip and our emotions move forward more freely as what they really are... energy in motion. Like a refinery that creates fuel from crude oil, our emotional process can cease to drain us, and instead function as our fuel, regardless of their positive or negative charge. Non-attachment with our emotions allows us to connect with the non-dual current of unconditional love. This is the domain of Pisces, sourced beyond our unconscious psyche that inhibits the liberation we seek from the trauma held so tightly in our nervous systems.
Before I go further with the astrological aspects to support that statement, I want you to imagine you’re playing hide-and-seek in the neighborhood where you grew up. You’re standing outside your childhood home, and in your mind you’re envisioning all the places someone could be hiding from you. You cover your eyes and count down from twenty, when suddenly something shifts. The walls disappear, and you see through the physical construct of your neighborhood. Released from the false construct of separation, you access your inner-vision. And you proceed without effort to locate your hidden playmates.
In much the same way, the game of hide-and-seek designed by the ego, to protect us from our traumatic memories, has blinded us from the truth. With Neptune’s clear vision we see, it’s not the trauma that needs to be released. It’s the ego’s attachment to the memory of the the trauma. Imagine a life free of attachment, where we can perceive these oppositional forces as complementary to life, rather than antagonistic. Through this lens we perceive the human organism as the miracle of harmony it is.
“Think about this; If the corpuscules in your blood stream weren’t fighting with each other and eating each other up, your body wouldn’t be healthy. So what is discord at one level of your being, is harmony at a higher level. And here you become aware that the discords of your life and the discords of people’s lives, which are a fight at one level, at a higher level of the universe are healthy and harmonious. And you suddenly realize that everything you are and do is at that level as magnificent and as free of any blemish as the patterns and waves, the markings and model, the way a cat moves. And that this world is really okay. And can’t be anything else, otherwise it couldn’t exist. Life is pattern. It is a dance of energy.” ~ Alan Watts
It’s been over a hundred and fifty years since Neptune, Pisces ruling planet, last danced in the sign of its dominion. Neptune symbolizes the capacity to transcend the mind’s finite perception of limitation, and connects our heart with the greater whole. Your intuitive, impressionable, and psychic faculties are lit up like a christmas tree right now. Open up and receive. Information, resources, love, etc. Heart-centered focus on whatever you commit yourself to carries hyper accelerated manifesting energy in 2012.
“Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too.
All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would have come his way.
Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, magic and power in it. Begin it now.” ~ Goethe
Each of us has been working hard to realize our dreams through our own personal nightmares. The twists and turns of your hero’s journey exposed the futility of attachment. And to the degree you’re comfortable, or willing to be uncomfortable, you’re being asked to let go of the conditioned ways you make decisions. You’re encouraged instead to listen to the harmonic vibration of your heart. Like a crystal bowl, you're tuning into your unique frequency, beyond the filter of ego.
Our dreams illuminate with the support of a cosmic alchemy designed to support their manifestation. With auspicious Jupiter transiting in physical Taurus, drink deep the nectar of your right-brain creativity, listen closely to the guidance of your higher mind, and expand through the resistance you encounter. Saturn in the last degree of Libra sits in harmonious trine to the Sun Moon Neptune conjunction in Pisces, which sits in a juicy sextile aspect to Jupiter. Translation: Extraordinarily creative energy is accumulating inside of you while Mars continues his retrograde through Virgo. Mars, your masculine aspiration, is preparing to source this extraordinary energy when it goes direct on April 13. The catch...? With Mars in Virgo, and all this Pisces influence, you’ll have access to this manifesting energy provided your intentions align with “the highest good for all concerned.” Actions not in service to our fellow man will steer us out of alignment, and into more lessons in ego attachment.
“A hundred times every day I remind myself that my inner and outer life depends on the labors of other men, living and dead, and that I must exert myself in order to give in the measure I have received and am still receiving.” ~ Albert Einstein
Science provides more than sufficient evidence for skeptics of the power of intention. The following is paraphrased from Dr. Dawson Church’s, The Genie in your Genes: Epigenetic Medicine and the New Biology of Intention:
The Heartmath Institute did an experiment to determine whether the act of deliberate observation could wind more tightly, or unwind, human DNA; a characteristic that can be measured by the molecule’s absorption of ultraviolet light. They used two specific variables: 1) Focused intention; and 2) The heart coherence of love and goodwill (For those who question the methods of measurement on this one, read the book).
These two variables were tested in three specific combinations. Intention without heart coherence. Heart coherence without intention. And intention combined with heart coherence. The results, verified by more scientific parameters than you care to read about here, were this:
- Intention without heart coherence had no effect on the DNA’s helicular coils.
- Heart coherence without intention had no effect on the DNA’s helicular coils.
- Intention combined with heart coherence tightened or loosened the DNA coils in accordance with the focused intention.
“These studies demonstrate that the DNA molecule can be altered through intentionality. The better participants were at generating a state of heart coherence, the better they were at affecting DNA with their intentions. Control group participants who were untrained and unskilled at heart coherence were unable to produce an effect despite the strength of their intentions. Both intention and heart coherence were required in order to alter DNA molecules.” - Dawson Church, Ph.D
This puts a whole new spin on the power of heart-centered intention, no? Back to the stars, and the point of this post. The new moon on Tuesday will be directly conjunct Neptune in Pisces, and in optimal aspect to both Jupiter and Saturn. Moving forward into 2012, you have all the planetary support you need to transform the ways you unconsciously relate (from ego) to your self and the world. Pay close attention to the vibration of your heart-centered intentions. If you’re saying “I don’t think I can hear it,” you’re right. This requires us to transcend the limitations of the thinking mind.
“Faith is an oasis in the heart which will never be reached by the caravan of thinking.”
~ Kahlil Gibran
All that’s required for passage onto Neptune’s dream boat is the faith to listen to the harmonic rhythm emanating from your heart, and take full advantage of your intuitive guidance. Dissolve the attachments that cloud love and goodwill from flowing freely. And finally, dance in celebration with your unique gift of creation. As you step forward, and resistance arises in equal measure to whatever you initiate, just remember that if you react, it’s not really you. It’s your ego. Don't listen. Respond instead with love and goodwill, and watch the resistance transform into the energy that propels you further into the miracle of life.
“Love is the only force capable of transforming an enemy into a friend.” ~ Martin Luther King
One last thing to keep in mind. We’re still in winter. We have limited yang energy this time of year, compounded by Mars and Saturn in retrograde. Like a dancer resting backstage in preparation for the curtain to go up, allow whatever process of energy cultivation you’re in to take its natural course. When Mars goes direct on April 13, the warrior archetype of your hero's journey will be fired up and ready to serve the manifestation of your dreams.
Thank you for your contribution to our collective awakening.
Stellar blessings,
Ryan

Stellar blessings,
Ryan

The Long Road Less Traveled
The year is new. 2012. Did you feel a shift? What’s the cause? And more important still, what’s the effect? In a year that’s got so much hype built around it, be it the Mayan prophecy (the end of the long count calendar), it’s a numerological FIVE year (major change) and the Chinese New Year of the Water Dragon (more major change), or the discovery that neutrinos may actually travel faster than the speed of light (a contradiction of Einstein’s Special Theory of Relativity), something major is afoot. These are only a few examples of the ever changing landscape of impermanence pulsing through the current zeitgeist of our human awakening. Stated beautifully in the iconic lyrics of Buffalo Springfield’s 1967 hit, For What It’s Worth...
“There’s something happening here
What it is ain’t exactly clear
There’s a man with a gun over there
Telling me I got to beware
I think it’s time we stop, children, what’s that sound
Everybody look what’s going down...”
Everybody look what’s going down. Watch closely the (ego) structures teetering on the brink of collapse. Anything’s possible with all this available energy. Time will tell. Astrology will forecast. Ego will attach. The higher Self will let go.
The moon just passed over Saturn, and is well into Scorpio as I write this. A reminder to feel what needs to be felt, then transmute the intensity of our feelings into creative contribution. And while this transit is brief, it carries with it a sign of things to come. Many of the structures our ego relies upon will be sacrificed at the altar of truth when Saturn moves into Scorpio later this year (October 5, 2012). This can be a painful process if you’re unprepared. If, however, you listen to the indelible frequency of your intuition when feelings of groundlessness arise, grace will guide you.
Saturn will reach the end of Libra and then, like a part of you that’s ready to die but you just can’t bring yourself to let it go, the planet that maintains form will go retrograde (February 7 - June 24) and lead us into a review of how our outdated habits hinder our growth, and the growth of those with whom we relate. We have to let the curmudgeon otherwise known as the ego return to its role of serving our truth, instead of allowing it to commandeer our thoughts, dictate our actions and perpetuate our inauthenticity.
What is the ego? In a nutshell, it’s the conceptual identification we all have with our individual existence as separate from the whole. The polarity of this is best expressed in the eloquent words of Martin Luther King...
“We are everlasting debtors of known and unknown men and women. We do not finish breakfast without being dependent on more than half the world...All life is interrelated. All people are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly affects all indirectly...A person’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things possessed, but in those treasuries of the heart which no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth.”
The thief and the moth in each of us is up for reconciliation in a big way. As Saturn spends most of the first half of this year retrograde, along with Mars retrograde (January 23 - April 13), the ego’s old way of running the show won’t prosper the same results. Any attempt to do things, or force things, or hold on to things in ways out of alignment will not only feel incongruent with our spirits, but the results will likely perpetuate the challenges we’re trying to overcome. Why carry forward a past that’s ready to die?
With the immovable object (Saturn) and our aspiring energy (Mars) retrograde, our task is to be aware of our tendency to over do, over compensate and try to make things happen. While conscious attention and intention factor considerably into what we accomplish, there’s a force greater than our ego, or separate self, that we can (and must) open up to like never before. And that’s the capacity to access our feminine intuition and receive guidance from cosmic mother energy, represented astrologically by Neptune. When Neptune, the planet that represents unity with the greater whole, enters Pisces (February 3), the sign it rules, our visions, dreams, and our extrasensory perception will be available like never before. That may be too much for some to grasp, so let me ground this with the transits of Jupiter and Venus, two planets in fantastic positions to serve the manifestation of our conscious intentions, or in the parlance of the times, our New Year’s resolutions.
Jupiter’s transit through Venusian ruled Taurus expands what we’re attracting into our lives and gives it tangible, earthly form. Translation, dream big. Check the doubter mechanism of ego at the door and play big. The biggest planet in our solar system has your back. Because he’s in the sign ruled by Venus, it behooves us to pay attention to this attractive planet. The potency of Venus’ transit through Aquarius offered insight into the illusions we’ve been living in, and the strong feeling that how we relate to others has a direct influence on how people relate with us. Aquarius is quick to bestow a feeling of empowerment when we show up in service to our fellow man, and just as quickly disempowers when our actions are based in any form of ego identification. And how many of us act based on ego identification? Plenty. And often. You know the electricity and shocks you attracted over the last month or two? Not all shocks are bad, but all offer reminders to stop and check in. We’re still in winter, so give yourself adequate time to rest and reflect on EVERYTHING as a version of you.
The aforementioned shock waves created space for the dream weave of Venus’ current transit through Pisces. This is usable cosmic energy. Venus is the cosmic body that influences what we attract, and she will work her magic in Pisces, her sign of exaltation. She reminds us of the beauty of our imaginations. Free of ego’s filter, we attract with grace the relationships aligned with our co-creative Self. Venus just passed over Neptune, so listen close to the intuitive wisdom of your imagination. Tap into your creative potential. The frequency has never been louder. With Venus in Pisces reminding us that love is the final goal of the evolutionary process, infuse your creativity with nothing less.
The first few months of this year offer an orchestra to soothe and revise the limbic attractors that conditioned our false identification with separation, which perpetuates the feeling of fear that disconnects us from functioning in harmony with our imagination.
"Imagination is more important than knowledge." Albert Einstein
With the Sun on its way out of Capricorn, where all kinds of ancient wisdom has surfaced, and into Aquarius (on January 20). The shock waves will continue, and they’ll have the Sun’s energy fueling them. Allow your heart-centered intentions to function as a gravitational field that channels these waves into the tapestry of your creative alchemy. Easier said than done. But absolutely real. And essential to fulfilling our individual parts in contributing to the greater whole.
To recap, as Saturn moves into retrograde we will have a rare and obvious purview of where and how our outdated conditioning and attachments obscure our truth with egoistic delusion. With Mars soon to be in retrograde, we’re not only being called to listen and be supported by our feminine intuition, we’re also supported by the rebel in us that refuses to accept any limitations. Uranus in Aries gives us access to a force far greater than Mars. Mars takes things personally. Let that part of yourself take a much needed rest. Uranus doesn’t waste his energy on the lower vibration of personality. He plays with the transpersonal. He opens us to work with the energy of the collective or universal mind. Play with the cloud computing analogy from my previous post. Let your awareness explore the vast amount of energy and information available to you. Open your mind fully to your imagination. Let it guide you. Allow that which you once took personal to be what it is, usable energy. If a victim storyline or circumstance remains in the fabric of your consciousness, let it die. Give it a ceremonious death. A great day to pay attention to, and perform such a ceremony, is January 23. We have a new moon in Aquarius and Mars goes retrograde. Let the war with ego be over. Use the available energy to fuel your hero’s journey and contribute your magic to the collective. And have fun doing it.
Stellar blessings and Water Dragon New Year's blessings,
