Let What You Love Be What You Do

Happy Holi Days!  With the festival of colors being celebrated throughout India, and the freedom to play and behave outside the normal boundary of societal constraints, there’s no shortage of colorful aspects dancing around the solar system encouraging us all to do the same thing.  While there are a multitude of planetary transits to discuss, it all boils down to one inexorable truth;  We are all connected.  The inter-connectivity of every organism on this planet, on levels both subtle and obvious, asks us to pay very close attention to what's mine to feel, and what isn't?  Coming into harmony with this paradoxical reality of being one with the universe, and at the same time separate in our unique emotional experience of it, is what the full moon in Virgo is all about.

"A question that sometimes drives me hazy: am I or are the others crazy?" ~ Albert Einstein

That quote from one of the greatest minds of the twentieth century summarizes the Sun's transit through Pisces.  As winter draws to a close, an ocean of emotions and a peculiar sense of delusion surrounds the chaos created by man's unconscious actions and emotions flooding the planet.  In every interaction, be it one-on-one, with a group, or with the collective, an alchemy of energy stirs us to feel things we wouldn't otherwise.  The gift of this full moon in Virgo (exact on Thursday 3/8 at 1:39 AM PST) is the ability to discriminate between what’s mine to do and feel, and what’s nothing more than an empathic connection to the pain and suffering in the field of whomever I'm relating with.  This particular full moon also illuminates your innate capacity to discern where (and why) you’re attached to old patterns.  The Sun in Pisces invites you to surrender and feel all the emotions stirring inside of you, regardless of who they belong to, and let them move through you as quickly as they arise.  While the mind has a penchant for the analytical process they frequently provoke, the heart's being called to rise up and allow compassion to quell ego reaction.  The danger is to either suppress these feelings or get swept up by them, and the boon is to recognize it all as nothing more than patterns and waves, which shifts the subjective identification to objective awareness.

Pluto has been burning our identifications in the funeral pyre since it entered Capricorn in 2008, and it's not going to stop.  Regardless of whether our identifications have a positive or negative charge, the planet of death and rebirth transiting through the sign of structure and order will eventually transform all labels and identifications.  With the darkness of winter coming to a welcome end, and the light of spring on the horizon, the key to a harmonious and fruitful year is to LET GO of the old and align with the now.  Easier said than done.  Your environment will resist your every attempt to step out of the mold inside of which it perceives you.  Referring back to last month's post, it requires unwavering commitment to your truth to transmute these denying energies and integrate them into the energy with which you can create.

"I am a human; I only understand relative truth.  So my understanding of truth can change from day to day.  And my commitment must be to truth rather than to consistency." ~   Gandhi

Psychological studies have proven the human mind prefers misery over change, because that which is familiar offers a sense of safety unavailable in the land of uncertainty.  Regardless of how awful the familiar might be, letting it go is one of the most difficult human endeavors.  Our limbic system suffers withdrawal in the absence of the familiar, and added to the resistance from our environment, the ego conjures thoughts of doubt and disbelief when we face the threshold of the unknown.  In a manner of speaking, the obstacles are many, and the cards are heavily stacked against the awakening we incarnated to experience.

"Success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which he has overcome.  ~ Booker T. Washington"

If you're like me, you've considered cashing in your chips and rejoining the unconscious masses on more than one occasion.  It's a heck of a lot easier to watch any one of the three hundred channels available at the click of a button, than it is to meditate for half an hour.  Yet, we continue to shed the layers because we know there's no going back.  With the awareness that it's darkest just before the dawn, I'm happy to share that spring and summer have the potential to blossom the fruits of our labors in unprecedented fashion.  Let me describe the astrology behind this statement.

As I write this, the Sun opposes both the Moon and Mars (retrograde until 4/13).  The ability to dissolve identifications that perpetuate our unconscious actions (or inactions), and transform this energy into conscious, disciplined action is what the moon's transit over Mars in Virgo is all about.  All the old, ancestral, as well as past life karma is what we’ve been digesting in our winter hibernation.  The scathing sense of apathy resultant of the ego's compulsory bent towards perceiving yourself as a "victim," or anyone as a "perpetrator," can and will come to rest, so long as we align with our service in the world and commit ourselves to doing the work we know we came here to do.

"Don’t let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do." ~   John Wooden

There are multiple aspects aligning in support of your unique purpose.  With Jupiter and Venus together in Taurus, we're like magnets for the resources and partners necessary to expand and bring our unique vision to fruition.  Buyer beware, we're also a magnet for the same unconscious distractions that have prevented success in the past.  With Pisces and Virgo incredibly active, we have the capacity to intuit what's in alignment with our purpose, and the discernment to focus our energy accordingly.

The Grand Trine (harmonious aspect) in Earth signs offers tremendous support for radically restructuring what's out of balance (Pluto in Capricorn), creating a foundation of abundance and tangible results with our heart’s longing (Venus conjunct Jupiter in Taurus), and stepping out of the subjective desires and into our unique service in the world (Mars in Virgo).  The key, for the rest of March especially, is to allow your intuitive listening to guide your movement forward with unabashed confidence, and place your trust this faculty whenever opportunity knocks.

"Opportunities multiply as they are seized."  ~ Sun Tzu

Last month's blog discussed Neptune's transit through Pisces as a bridge to our intuitive faculties.  While accessing this extrasensory perception isn't an overnight phenomenon, I implore you to play with this in every choice you make.  In a universe expanding exponentially in all directions, and a world spiraling rapidly into the groundless uncertainty of nothing to hold on to, what is required now more than ever is the trust in our ability to relate with whatever is coming.  This will require great courage when life circumstance generates resistance equal to whatever you're affirming.  If you can remember to dis-identify, and remain in your center, you can integrate these two opposing energies as the fuel you need for the fulfillment of every intention you plant this spring equinox (March 19, at 9:14 PM PST).

"It is plain that there is no separate essence called courage, no cup or cell in the brain, no vessel in the heart containing drops or atoms that make or give this virtue; but it is the right or healthy state of every man, when he is free to do that which is constitutional to him to do.  It is directness, --the instant performing of that which he ought." ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

The heightened energy on the planet stimulates the excess of oppositional forces and revolutionary zeal on both sides of every argument in the current zeitgeist, as well as within ourselves.  All the lies and conflict in our field of awareness generate the friction we all need to wake up to the truth.  Welcome it all.  Who you should believe, who's right and who's wrong, isn't for me (nor anyone else) to say.  We cannot escape in all matters of belief from opinion.  And each of us has a subjective opinion built around a lifetime of personal experience, and our thoughts and actions reflect this conditioned way of being.

And there's the rub.  We're not our conditioning.  Sure we can identify with any given label (good, bad, right, wrong) at any given moment.  We're human.  We relate to the other as separate because our dualistic mind perceives this reality, especially when the other behaves in a manner incongruent with our subjective beliefs.  As I mentioned in my last post, when you're in reaction to anything, it's not you.  It's coming from your mind (ego).  And that's what's up for reconciliation in A BIG WAY as Mercury goes retrograde (March 11, 11:48PM PST), first in the fiery rebel Aries, and then into the emotional dreamer Pisces.

With the active part of ourself (Mars), along with our limited nature (Saturn) also retrograde, we will likely review the mind's false separation of the finite self and the infinite Self.  The latter represents the inexorable oneness and connectivity mentioned at the beginning of this post, and the former reflects the sense of separation intrinsic to the dualistic world in which we live.  The Sun in Pisces reminds us this world isn’t the only domicile in which we reside.  And Mercury’s retrograde cycle starts right when we have an extraordinary amount of harmonious energy available to fertilize our dreams.  Ram Das said it best when he encourages us to “Quiet the mind, open the heart, and deal with the suffering in front of you.”  With Venus passing over Jupiter at 9 degrees Taurus, in exact trine aspect to Mars at 9 degrees Virgo and Pluto at 9 degrees Capricorn, the opportunity to dissolve the veil between the finite nature of the mind and the infinite nature of the heart, and the ability to integrate every action moving forward in accordance with this awareness, is golden ticket available to all.  Neptune's sextile stimulates the Venus Jupiter conjunction with unimaginable creative juices.  Plant the seeds of your deepest intentions in the fertile soil of an emptied mind.  Infinite fruits await.

"When the act of reflection takes place in the mind, when we look at ourselves in the light of thought, we discover that our life is embosomed in beauty.  Behind us, as we go, all things assume pleasing forms, as clouds do far off.... For it is only the finite that has wrought and suffered; the infinite lies stretched in smiling repose." ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

ALL of this can be simplified in one sentence...

"LET WHAT YOU LOVE BE WHAT YOU DO." ~ Rumi
